Are You A Smart Girlie?

After I recovered from the brain cramp that this video induced, I realized that this is the difference between being girlie and being a girlie girl.  Girlie girls can be idiots!  Europe, a country, really?  I do not want to be a girlie girl.  But in avoiding that do we go too far?  To prove that we are smart and capable do we try to become like men?  Do we deny our girlie side?  What does God have to say about this?

Keep checking back throughout the week as we discuss if it is OK to be girlie in today’s world.

  1. Define "girlie Girl". I have often used the term to describe a young girl who prefers stereotypically feminine interests: fashion, dance, cheerleading, arts/crafts. This is in contrast to the girl who enjoys more cerebral pursuits or athletic interests. (I missed the video link, so I'm not sure how the girlie girl is portrayed). God has created us all with our unique set of gift and talents to share. The girlie girl has as much to contribute as anyone else.

  2. Thanks for sharing your insights. As I said in the podcast, my definition of a girlie girl is the stereotypical image conveyed in the video. I think that you will quickly see that I agree with you that all women have something meaningful to contribute to the world. I am seeking to have women examine if they have sold themselves short by trying to downplay their femininity or have gone over the top by overemphasizing it. My assertion is that women are created to be different from men but to complement them nonetheless. When a woman is comfortable with herself and her differences she is what I call a smart girlie...kinda like the types of girls you described above.
